Open the Shipping Guide- Air Waybill (AWB)
- The transport document for air cargo. It acts as a receipt and contract and contains the shipment's tracking reference.
- Bill of Lading (B/L)
- The key document for sea freight: a receipt for the goods, evidence of the contract of carriage and, in many cases, a document of title.
- FCL / LCL
- Full Container Load means you use a whole container. Less than Container Load means your goods share a container with other shipments.
- Volumetric weight
- A weight calculated from a package's dimensions. Light but bulky items are charged by the space they occupy.
- Customs clearance
- The process of submitting documents and paying any duties so goods can legally leave or enter a country.
- Duties & taxes
- Charges set by the destination country's customs authority. They are separate from shipping charges and depend on the goods and their value.
- Incoterms
- Standard international trade terms (such as EXW, FOB, CIF or DAP) that define who pays for transport, insurance and duties, and where responsibility passes.
- Proof of Delivery (POD)
- Confirmation that a shipment has been delivered, usually recorded with the date, time and location.
